MILE Participating in COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan
On November 20, 2024, the MILE Organization, in collaboration with Iraq’s National Mine Action Authorities, Directorate of Mine Action (DMA) & Iraqi Kurdistan Mine Action Agency (IKMAA), Geneva International Center for Humanitarian Demining (GICHD), and Mines Advisory Group (MAG), launched an innovative initiative that integrates mine action with climate change adaptation. This approach utilizes data-driven solutions to enhance community resilience and sustainability. By aligning the clearance of explosive remnants of war (ERW) with climate risk data, as well as Iraq’s National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the initiative aims to address both the challenges of post-conflict recovery and climate change.
