MILE Organization, in coordination with the Directorate of Climate Change at the Ministry of Environment and with support from CCAC/UNEP, successfully concluded a two-day consultative workshop in Baghdad.

The workshop brought together representatives from key ministries and the higher education sector to explore how Iraq’s waste sector can drive green job creation and generate co-benefits for climate, health, and livelihoods.
Opening the event, MILE CEO Isam Ghareeb Barzangy emphasized how Iraq can transform the threats of unmanaged waste into opportunities for sustainable growth and youth employment.

Discussions focused on:
• Reducing methane and black carbon emissions
• Unlocking circular economy potential
• Advancing policy frameworks for solid waste reform
• Strengthening inter-ministerial collaboration
